He played in the Premier League for Coventry City and Derby County, as well as in the Football League for clubs like Stoke City, West Bromwich Albion, Tranmere Rovers, and Kidderminster Harriers. Flynn featured regularly for Tranmere Rovers during the 2000-01 season, where he played as a determined and diligent right-sided or central midfielder, providing inspirational leadership from the center of the park. After retiring from professional football, Flynn ran a caravan park in Cornwall and continued playing at an amateur level for clubs like Bodmin Town and as a player-assistant manager for Falmouth Town.
